Body to Seattle

Several discoveries today. First an Elan will not fit into a
U-Haul 6×12 enclosed trailer. The Elan should fit as it is a
tad bit under 12 feet when the bumpers are off. The trailer is
11′-10″ inside the rollup door. Oops. The second
discovery is that the ring and pinion in the original diff,
3.9:1, was swapped sometime in the past for a 3.7:1.

I also discovered my first planning mistake. The TTR chassis
has gusset plates on the rear shock towers. Because of these
plates the stock springs will not fit. Darn, I had to buy the
adjustable spring kit. Installation was straight forward: cut
of the old spring mounts and epoxy on the adjusting collar.

Today is a major milestone in the project. I’m taking the
body
to Randall
Fehr Restorations
to have the fiberglass work completed.
