Winter update – Windows

It is cold again in the garage and things are slowing down.

After ordering the window whisker strips from all the dealers and becoming frustrated that such a simple part takes over 9 months to arrive, I found the strip locally. I went to Humpke in Portland and they had the proper whisker strip in 8 foot sections for $10. A bargain. Because of the length of the original, two sections are needed.

After getting the whisker strips I started to reasemble the windows. I carefully installed the strips, put the new glass in the frame, ran new window lift wire, tightened the bolts and broke the window. Damn. I need to have another window made.

I think the window broke because the bolts that run through the window to hold the wire were a bit snug on the new glass. Next time I’ll have the holes made a bit larger.
