It’s All About Timing

Monday we got Tivo. Tuesday we got snowed in. As other geeks before us have said – Tivo is frigging cool. We can watch Perry Mason and Law and Order when we want, stop it to get more coffee, and rewind it when one of us talks over crucial testimony. Interior – Part 1

Today was the day to start recovering the non-seating surface vinyl. Never having done fabric work, I called a seamstress friend, Jeannine. We started with the package shelf, peeling off the old vinyl and cutting new. After gluing down the new vinyl we noticed it showed every imperfection in the substrate. Happy New Years (a little late)

We had the most fabulous New Year’s Day: it snowed from 6:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. We built a snowman – I was especially proud of his sculpted beard and Jim of his rosehip eyes. Two neighbor girls and I ganged up on Jim for a snowball fight. People skied and sledded down our street. It was a wonderful way to start the year.

Jim Builds a Trebuchet

327For Christmas Nadya bought me a Trebuchet kit from Trebuchet.com Assembly took the better part of a day, most of it waiting for the glue to dry. It easily sits on the table and throws a small wooden ball about 20′. Next I need to build one that can throw a golf ball 300 feet.
