First Sunday Drive

A Red Letter Day, for the chief financial backer, at least! Jim took me for my first ride today, five miles or so to a friend’s shop where we could show off under the pretense of running an errand. Carb Linkage and Cable

The throttle cable was a little sticky so I decided to replace it with a low profile linkage from rd enterprises. I even paid extra to get it here on Friday so I could install it and go for another shakedown drive. I pulled off the old linkage and started to install the new one. Oops, the fuel line I made is in the way. Back to the drawing board.

Actual Progress!

I made actual progress on the punch list over the last couple of days. The big achievement was getting the speedo working. I pulled the cable and the speedo and hooked everything together on the bench. On the transmission end I put my trusty drill motor. On with the drill and everything worked. Strange. Drive and Insurance

Another major milestone in the restoration project. I drove all the way to the insurance company to apply for classic car insurance. This was the longest, and most nerve racking, drive yet. Total loop was 20 miles with speeds of up to 60 MPH!
