980 983 986 Today started as the worst of the trip. Well it didn’t really start bad, our innkeeper drove us the mile up the hill to the trailhead and we started our walk at 0900 toward the highest point on the wall. Off day

Today was our off day, one of David’s more brilliant ideas. We ordered breakfast for 9 and made no plans for the day. I was up around 7;45 so had time to get up and talk to the eccentric woman from Florida who was walking the whole wall. If I can wear short shorts in my 50′s, maybe I will too. Sleep

Back at the B&B and Rava is giving David a hard time as he tries to nap. “David, we could see where they make the Devil’s porridge.” “Munffmfmf, huh, ” David returns. “Do you want some?” Rava asks, to which David opens an eye and glares, followed by “snorrrr, snorrr, mumfmfmfm” and back asleep.

Why my feet don't hurt

A good day today, and I’m only a LITTLE bit secretly relieved that I went with David on the bus instead of going the long way. Our 8 minute bus trip from Brocolitia to Housesteads took the rest of the crew a solid 3 hours. One of the cool things about this walk is that we’re walking through active pastures. Why my feet hurt

On the pedometer we clocked 13.5 miles yesterday. I think that is a bit optimistic since much of the walk was up or down step inclines so my steps were short. I estimate it was more in the 12 mile range but what a scenic and rugged 12 miles. After leaving Wall, we walked past the fort and up our first hill.
