Death Valley Days
Death Valley only lives up to its name in the summer. In the winter (and spring, and fall) it can be remarkably hospitable.
We fulfilled David’s long-time dream of staying at the decadent Furnace Creek Inn last week. It didn’t seem proper that we’d stayed there and David & Rava hadn’t so we made plans last year to remedy that sorry state of affairs.
What we mean by decadence: waking to a pre-dawn glow over the mountains, a refreshing hike through 165 million year old granite and marble, a swim in the spring-fed pool, cocktails on the veranda overlooking the view, and a gourmet dinner — all in the pleasant climate of 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Now add in vast expanses of wildflowers, good company, a few books ….. And people asked us “Why are you going to Death Valley?”
Take a look. Plan your own trip.
