Gamalost – Page Two!

Friday at work, I casually mentioned to a group of Norwegian colleagues that I’d tried a new Norwegian food called Gamalost.

After they stopped laughing, which took a while, they told me two important things:

  • Gamalost means “Old Cheese”
  • “It’s special, it’s for special people”
  • Further inquiry (again, resulting in laughter) revealed that the people in their 50′s remember their parents eating this. Gamalost seems to have lost a few generations. Memo to Gamalost – have you considered a Myspace page?
