Joshua Tree

Continuing our desert national park tour we took an hour drive over to Joshua Tree National Park. If you’ve never seen a Joshua Tree think “Dr Seuss makes a tree” and you will understand. Today is also the first time Nadya and I tried to synchronize the times on our cameras and the first time I’ll try to geocode the pictures. We’ll see how the geocoding works out when I have some more time....

We're not in Kansas anymore

When we left Portland this morning there was still snow on the ground.  After a couple hour flight we arrived in Palm Springs.  The terminal is different with open air walkways between the gates and the other areas of the airport.  It was quite the (good) shock.

Snowed In Dinner

With the weather still dicey, we canceled dinner reservations and stayed in.  After a four person shopping extravaganza at Zupan’s I made Christmas Pasta, based on a recipe from Rachael Ray Magazine. My changes: I didn’t use any EVOO — who needs it when cooking pancetta and sausage in a non-stick pan?  I used all spicy sausage, no mild, and skipped the veal.   I didn’t think it needed that much meat and I...

Snow walk

Fat City is open so Nadya and I walked uphill in the snow to have breakfast and buy Christmas present. 12747 Temperature peaked at 23 degrees today with the weather guessers projecting freezing rain and sleet for the next day.  At least we got out today and it was pretty.
