For Immediate Release: Unibrain Motorsports to Exit Formula 1

Portland, Oregon, USA.   Today, the Motorsports Division of the Unibrain Trust announced its plans to immediately exit Formula 1.  Unibrain had long been rumored to not start a team in 2010 or 2011, and the announcement to accelerate this came as a surprise to many. “As a non-profit foundation, launching an F1 team seemed like a sure-fire way to not make money.  However, given the current economic climate, we feel we can improve our losses by investing in start-up alternative energy companies, as well as efforts to revitalize the US steel industry,”  said Nadya Boone, the former Future Team Principal.  ”This was a...

Citrus Beet Salad

I grabbed this recipe from the Rachael Ray magazine and served it with some Carlton Farms (because everything must be locally attributed these days) pork chops tonight. The store didn’t have clementines or tangerines so I used canned mandarin oranges. Jim thought he’d like it better without the cheese. Without the cheese? Who is this man and where is my husband? I was wondering if I’d like the beets just boiled instead of roasted but they were great – and I used large ones from the supermarket, not little baby ones from the farmer’s market. I’m taking the rest, WITH cheese, for lunch tomorrow!

Best Chem Lab Ever

Saturday I went to the best Chemistry Lab ever.  It included bunnies,  yarn, and a gourmet lunch.    What could possibly be better? Saturday a friend and I went up to Mt. Hood Fiber in Welches for a lovely day learning to dye yarn.  In the morning, Stevanie of Abundant Yarn and Dyeworks taught us how to dye with natural dyes.  The natural dyes were mostly plants, but we also used ground up beetles – awesome!  In the afternoon, Yvonne of Lavender Sheep showed us acid dying.
