All the engine parts have arrived and I’m trying to schedule some time for the assembly. The DMV says I can use old plates on my car. There is an extra $50 charge every two years. I think I can live with that. A friend gave me a set of headers. I’m cleaning up the flange surface and various other ugly welds. If the ports match and they fit well, I’ll get them coated....

Last September at the Lotus Club track day I threw the fan belt going down the back straight at PIR. By the time I got to the end of the front straight, the temperature had climbed and I noticed it on the gauge. At the end of the straight is not time to take a long, hard look at the gauges. Not much real work on the car this week since the local Lotus Club is having a track day this weekend and I’ve been spending time getting the Caterham prepared. According the this guy, I can use 1966 plates when I register my car. I’ve contacted the DMV to find out.

Complete new website design to make it easier to update the photo gallery.The machine work on the engine is proceeding and should be doneby the end of the month. The bores were worn enough that theyneeded to be bored to .060″ over. Nut and bolt check for Friday track day. Replaced the electric temp gauge with a mechanical (VDO) gauge. I never trusted the electric gauges. There were two tricks to this. First the fan switch was moved from the thermostat housing to the top of the radiator to make room for the new gauge.
