Traveling Man
I’m on a business trip. It has been several years since I was in business, and a couple more since the last trip. Today I’m in Austin Texas, at least which what the airport says is. It it hard to tell.
- Morning radio is the same, except for the twang with the morning goofs, hip-hop, npr and the same traffic reports.
- Hotels all the same
- Fleet of rental cars in the parking lot
- Strangely familiar malls and chain restaurants
I do know this is not Oregon.
On the way from the hotel I drove by the San Francisco Steak House, in Austin, two Hooters and a place called “Wings and more” The highway is lined with ever chain restaurant I’ve every heard of and a few I haven’t. They all have the same look with lots of bright red and green neon try to lure you in. I haven’t been in but I’m sure the all have a wait staff that has the required amount of flair.
